a neurodiverse community

SBSK is exposing something that society isn’t exactly comfortable with; neurodiversity is usually ignored, people are afraid to look at this group because they were told its not polite. SBSK's facebook videos are letting these kids express how they feel –– telling the world that its okay to look, talk , and be friends with them. I felt the branded needed to convey a strong sense of optimism and happiness. The videos are very inspiring, not sad, and I wanted people to know that this will lift their day rather than make them uncomfortable. Abstracting their faces to pure emotion I wanted to evoke the colorful personalities the kids have through art.

The community is largely based on facebook but there are over 1 million members from all over the world. I thought it would be an interesting idea to make the business cards feature each child and act as trading/friendship cards. The kids can then reach out to other members and create friendships.

I painted the portraits, and the abstract illustrations were done by the very talented Danilo Gonclaves
